Wesley Cameron Lackey

April 12, 1935 - March 25, 2015

Wes was born in Toronto, to Gwen and Bruce Lackey.  He was raised in Toronto along with his sister Jo-Anne.    His mother Gwen was proud of her cute boy – one of his first accomplishments was winning the CNE baby competition when he was a baby.  He married Helen (Sheridan) when he was just 20 years old and they remained happily married for 59 years.  Wes was a father of 7, a grandfather of 18, and a great-grandfather of 4 (soon to be 5).  Wes’ greatest legacy is his family. His very large family.  He was a man of many accomplishments and diverse skills.  He took great pride in his career, starting from his days as a service station owner to his eventual role as Regional Sales Manager at Kodak Canada. Wes always had a project on the go.  He needed to, with 7 children to raise.  When he wasn’t repairing a washing machine, renovating his family room, or building a boat house at his cottage, one of his favourite pastimes was his Sunday afternoon drives with Helen.  His career with Kodak took Wes and his family across the country, from Nova Scotia to Vancouver, back to Toronto. Wes will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen and his children Dianna, Sandra, Michelle, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Wesley and Carrie.     Grandfather of Courtney, Stephen and Kyle; Perry, Dean, Garrett and Darren:  Carley, Evan and Owen; Brandon; Sarah and Natalie; Austyn, Aidan, Alexa and Paige.   Special dad to Michael.   Great-Grandfather of Brett, Brody and Lila; and Kate.  Friends will be received at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. Cobourg on Sunday March 29, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm and Monday March 30, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm.  A service in the chapel on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 2 pm.   In lieu of flowers family requests that donations be made to either: MS Society (mssociety.ca) or Northumberland Big Brothers and Big Sisters (bigbrothersbigsisters.ca/northumberland).   Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
