John Black

Died peacefully in his 95th year at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg. Predeceased by his loving wife Monica, son, Gerald and many siblings and friends. His incredible spirit will be greatly missed, but lives on in his granddaughter, Sharon Black and husband, Ted Brandreth and in his sister Joan Fisher. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, friends Linda & Charlie and granddaughters Marilyn and Jewel. 'Jackie' was a lifelong employee and family member of Pilkington Glass, Scarborough Plant where his heart and soul remained long after his retirement. He was an avid gardener and putterer and a compassionate, caring friend and neighbor to all he knew. Sincere thanks to our true friends and the staff and residents at Palisade Gardens for their support and caring in his final years. Thanks also to the Palliative Care staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital who cared compassionately for him in his final days. Cremation has taken place. Graveside Service  will be held at the PINE HILLS CEMETERY & VISITATION CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229) on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11am. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Department.
