Olive Nelson

May 5, 1915 - February 20, 2015

Passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario in her 100th year.  Loving mother of Lesley (Ed) Kukiel, dear grandmother of Tyler (Lisa) Ripley and Erin (Maureen) Ripley, proud great grandmother of Jake, Luke, Tristan and Stephanie.  Predeceased by husband Les, and sisters Winnie, Helen, Estelle and Fran, and brothers Bill and Eugene.  Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Olive was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  She married Les in 1942 and they moved to Toronto in 1946, where Olive established a hair dressing salon.  In 1947 Olive gave birth to daughter Lesley.  In 1971, Olive and Les moved to their cottage in Hastings, Ontario, spending winters in Florida.  In 2006, Olive moved to Cobourg to be closer to her daughter.  Olive was an exceptional artist, gardener, and card player.  She volunteered for many organizations including Canadian Cancer Society, St. George’s Anglican Church, and the Conservative Party of Canada.  The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital for their care and compassion.  The family would also like to thank the staff and all of Olive’s friends at Palisades Gardens for the life she enjoyed there over the last three years.  Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a future date.  Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
