In his 98th year, Atholl Blair of Oakville, died July 13th at Streamway Villa, Cobourg. Predeceased by his loving wife Doris and by his brother Robert, he is survived by his sister Catherine Dowse. He leaves behind his daughter, Rosemary Rumsey (Charlie), granddaughter, Sally Reinert (Bernie), their children Amy and Eric, and grandson Charles Rumsey (Phoebe). Sadly missed by son Atholl Blair (Carolyn), grandson Craig (Lynsey), grandson Christopher (Catherine), their children Daisy and Austin, and granddaughter Katie. Born in Northern Ireland, Atholl was a major in the British Army and survived the sinking of HMT Lancastria. He went on to serve in Europe and the Middle East and was Mentioned In Despatches. Emigrating to Canada in 1948, settling first in Toronto then Oakville as a businessman, he was the first captain of the Irish Canadian Rugby Club. He remained an enthusiastic rugby supporter all his life. Atholl will not be forgotten by his family and many friends. He will be fondly remembered by his dear friend Mary Foxhall.
