Audrey Catherine Lawless

May 17, 1934 - March 31, 2014

Audrey went peacefully to join her beloved and terribly missed Jer with her family by her side.  Cherished wife of the late Jerry Lawless.  The beautiful, loving mother of Mary, Ginny and Cathie.  The most amazing Grandma (a.k.a. Grambo - for her exceptional slingshot paintball skills) and Grandma extraordinaire to Jeremy Robins (Tab), Shawn Heming (Alexa), Kerry Heming (Ammo) and Rhianna Robins.  Her sweet, happy chocolate lab, Abby is missing her dearly.  She is predeceased by her parents Michael Augustus (Gus) O'Shea and Kathleen McCarthy.  Audrey was the much loved little sister of Maureen, big sister of Barb, Kathy, Gerri and predeceased by her baby sister Colleen.  She is survived by sisters-in-law Aileen Hoey, Gloria Lawless, Carol Lawless and Ann Sloan and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Audrey enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, travelling across North America.  She loved time at the beach, bird watching, and gardening.  She was an extremely strong, intelligent woman who raised her daughters to be independent and taught them to reduce, reuse, and recycle long before it was cool.  She was an incredible seamstress, making many of her daughters clothes, even when they were not appreciated.  She gave her children roots and then wings.  She worried, prayed and was always there for any child who needed laughter and love. Her grandchildren are her legacy.  She was the brilliant, influential educator of her children and grandchildren.  She taught them how to read, write and spell, and about morals, values and independence.  She passed along her great love of reading and travel - two of the greatest gifts you could ever give to a child. Audrey donated many volunteer hours to Horizons of Friendship and the Hospital Auxiliary. Visitation will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael's Church on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11 a.m.  Interment at St. Michael's Cemetery after mass, followed by a reception at MacCoubrey Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, please do a good deed for someone, or if so desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society, NHH Palliative Care Unit, The Breakfast Club at St. Michael's or St. Joseph's School, or Primrose Donkey Sanctuary would be much appreciated. A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of NHH who treated Mom with respect, dignity and love. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
