Bob died peacefully at home on Saturday January 4th, 2014 with his loving wife and soul mate Edith of 50 years holding his hand. Bob was 71 years of age. Bob will be deeply missed and is lovingly adored by his children Trina (Murray) of Stouffville and Rob (Tammy) of Calgary. Bob was an active, devoted, loving “Poppie”, who took great pride in watching his three beautiful grandchildren Austin, Victoria and Gabrielle grow into the amazing young people they are. Bob will be missed by his dear sisters Audrey (Dennis) and Cheryl (Al). Bob will be remembered fondly by his sister-in-law Erika, mother-in-law Emma and all remaining family and friends. Bob was an accomplished business man in the automotive industry, who had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was a highly regarded, dynamic, motivational speaker. He had his pilot’s licence and for a while owned a single engine plane. He loved to fly his family back and forth from Belleville to Oshawa/Markham (much to Edith’s dismay!) He loved community theatre and had a few roles in local productions throughout his life. He loved to dance with his true love Edith. Trina and Rob grew up watching their parents twirl and spin around the house to the music of the 60’s. Bob was always learning, he had a particular thirst for medical knowledge. When diagnosed with MSA (multiple system atrophy) he researched, asked questions and bravely forged forward. He maintained his positive, upbeat spirit throughout his entire fight with the disease. He took each day as a gift and made the most of it, no matter what challenges he was faced with. “It is not the years in your life, but the life in your years”, he always said. Memorial and Celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday January 25th, 2014 at 1pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., East, Cobourg. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation in Bob’s honour can be made to The Toronto Western Hospital (Movement Disorder Centre). Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com
