Jim passed away at the Northumberland Hills Hospital - Palliative Care in Cobourg on Friday, April 20th, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was in his 89th year. Jim was born in Swansea Wales, and served in the British Navy in WWII. He leaves his wife Betty of Cobourg and one sister Sylvia (Ted) of England and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three step-children; Bob Thompson (Helen) of Toronto, Diane McMinn (Ken) of Bowmanville, and Carol Darling (Bob) of Bowmanville. Grandfather of seven grandchildren; Alexandra and Ian Thompson of Toronto, Bradley McMinn (Laura) of Courtice, Bryan McMinn of Bowmanville, Sarah Nagles (Craig) of North Sydney N.S., Jade Darling of Pickering, Zachary Darling of Bowmanville, and great grandfather of Tyler, Ashton, and Makenna McMinn of Courtice. At Jim's request there will be cremation with a memorial visitation being held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Tuesday, April 24th, from 2 to 4 pm. Those wishing may make a memorial donation by cheque to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society, or Northumberland Hills Hospital - Palliative Care Unit.
