It is with great sense of loss that we the family, announce the passing of Richard Shaubel on March 18 2012 at the age of 69. Richard fought a courageous 10 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease but the fight became too hard and he grew tired of the battle. First love and dearly beloved husband to Joan Shaubel (nee Moser) for 48 years. A woman who gave everything of herself and all her love to make Richard’s life with this disease as manageable as possible. Caring father of Paul Shaubel and his wife Christine and Kelly Latin (nee Shaubel) and her husband, Greg Latin. Loving Grandpa to Jaime, Matthew, Andrew, Clare and Adam. Brother of Ann Kingswell. Uncle to Sean and Brett Kingswell. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Hilda Shaubel of Port Colborne and sister Joanne Shaubel. Richard was a valued employee of Bell Canada for 34 years. He will be most remembered for his genuine kindness , dedication and love of his family, his love of the outdoors and his remarkable craftsmanship. The family will not he holding a funeral service at Richard’s request but welcome friends and family to visit and share their condolences at Mount Lawn Visitation Centre in Whitby on Wednesday, March 21 betwen the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Richard lived for 38 years in Whitby before moving to Cobourg to enjoy his lakeview condominium. Mount Lawn is located at 21 Garrard Road. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to the Parkinson’s Society.
