Gerald Joseph McCarthy

Gerry died peacefully at home, with grace and acceptance, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Gerry leaves behind his beloved wife Patti, the light of his life, his cherished daughter Alexandra and son Aaron Blair (Michelle). Papa Gerry will be greatly missed by his 3 adored grandchildren, Mitchell, Dylan and Brooklyn. Gerry was the much loved son of parents Frank and Rita McCarthy of Peterborough. Dear brother to Donald (Janice) Nova Scotia, Bernard (Holly) British Columbia, Paul (Toni) Toronto, Beth McCarthy (Wilf) London, Maureen Lemke (Randy) Ajax and Jennifer Beauchamp (Tom) Peterborough. He is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Gerry will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Bernice Blair. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care and support given to Gerry during his illness by Dr. Moorsom,  Dr. Beamish, Jan Adams CCAC, Cathy Ferguson and Christine Wilson RN (VON). Christine, you made a difficult time so much easier for our family. A special thanks goes out to the countless friends of Gerry who gave their time, prayers and support so generously and unselfishly. A Celebration of Life will be held for Gerry at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre on Saturday, January 28, 2012. (Please enter from the East Door off of the East Parking Lot) The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. followed by a sharing of memories by family and friends at 2 p.m. The continuation of sharing Gerry’s memories is encouraged at the conclusion of the Celebration. Because of Gerry’s lifetime love for wildlife he had requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Wild for Life Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Rosseau, Ontario.
