Smith, Douglas William: On Wednesday, March 23, 2011, Doug passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital (Cobourg) at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 54 years to Lyn (nee Waters) and cherished Father to Lisa Dunn and Doug Smith Jr. (Beatrix). Doug took great joy in his grandchildren Colleen, Sam & Molly Dunn and Jack & Emily Smith. He will be sadly missed by his only sister, Miriam van Vlymen (Peter). Doug and Miriam were the children of Douglas Gordon Smith and Miriam Jackman. Doug spent a lifetime in the lumber industry beginning his career with his family's company "John B. Smith & Sons" (Toronto) and retiring after 21 years of service with E.B. Eddy Forest Products (Ottawa). Friends will be received at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home (30 King St. E, Cobourg; 905-372-5132) on Monday March 28, 2011 between 2 PM - 4 PM and 7 PM - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at 3:30 PM at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church (corner of University and Division). Cremation to follow.
