Paynter, Cora H. - (of Livonia, Michigan) - Cora was born February 7, 1909 in Detroit to James and Ida Burns the second youngest of five sisters. She was raised in the Detroit area. She married Charles Paynter in 1960 and moved to Cobourg Ontario. After Charlie passed away in September of 1966, she lived in Canada for several years then she moved to Livonia for the remainder of her life. She passed away on Saturday June 13th at the age of 100 years in St. Johns, Michigan. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Samuel Paynter of Cobourg Ontario and her four sisters: Florence (Edmund) Dover, Helen (Christopher) Gasser, Grace (Lloyd) Burton, and Alice (Frank) MacGoff. She is survived by her nephew Robert (Diane) Burton & family of St. Johns, Michigan, nephew John (Helen) Scott & family of Peterborough, nephew Douglas (Chris) Scott & family of Lindsay, son-in-law Gordon Handley & family of Calgary, cousin Alison Seale & family of Cobourg, and her dear friend June Post of Yarker. Cora was a member of St. Peter's Anglican Church of Cobourg and of Westminster Church of Detroit. She enjoyed travel and was touring Europe with her older sister when they were in their nineties. Cora retired from the Detroit Board of Education where she was a secretary. She will be interred at Cobourg Union Cemetery in Cobourg, Ontario. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church (corner of College St. and King St. E. in Cobourg) on July 4, 2009 at 11:00 am.
