McCracken, Brian Michael Born February 27, 1955, Brian died on May 24, 2008 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg. His education and career included achieving a B.A. (Hons) Trent, a B. Ed. Queen's, teaching and being an Insurance Broker. He was a proud and active Past President of the Cobourg Lions Club, a Melvin Jones Fellow, and a long time member of the Cobourg Badminton Club. Brian was also an avid fisherman, golfer and gardener. Most importantly, however, he was a wonderful husband and best friend to Laura (nee Gordon) for almost 27 years and a proud and devoted father to James Locklin and John Gordon McCracken. Taken too soon, he lost his 28-month battle with colon cancer at the age of 53. He never lost, however, his sense of humour nor his will to survive. He was predeceased by his parents, Locklin John (1999) and Ella (2000) and is survived by his brother Bernie (Elaine) of St. Albert, Alberta, his sisters, Marilyn (Wolf) Haessler and Shirley (Gary) Christo, both of Brampton and their families. He will be missed by Laura's parents, Jim and Ruth Gordon and her brothers Mark (Kathy) and Jamie (Kim), and their families, all of Cobourg. He will also be missed by a legion of friends of all ages who will remember him as a gentle gentleman. A funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Division St., Cobourg, on Wednesday May 28th at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family will be received at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street, East, Cobourg, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Instead of flowers, Brian asked that donations be made to The Northumberland Hills Hospital or to Queen's University c/o Dr. Christopher Mueller Cancer Research Institute.
