McAnsh, Bruce (Detective, Metropolitan Toronto Police (Retired), Teaching Professor, Durham College, Law & Security Administration (Retired) Passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Cobourg, Ontario. Bruce was born March 8, 1939, in Toronto, and raised by his loving grandmother, Alma Hanton, who predeceased him in 1961. Bruce leaves behind his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Ellen, his loving daughter Wendy, and his beloved granddaughter and fishing buddy, Denika. Bruce served with the Metropolitan Toronto Police for 34 years, working in numerous units and divisions, terminating his career in 1990 at the C.O. Bick College. Bruce was then employed by Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology as a Teaching Professor, instructing in Criminal Law, until he retired completely in 1995. His love for the Police Service and his fellow officers remained with him until the end. In keeping with Bruce's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2006, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Toronto Police Association, 180 Yorkland Blvd., Toronto, Ontario. Reception will follow. His family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Kathy Barnard-Thompson and the nursing and support staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital, Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care Bruce received during his final illness.
