Stan died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at The Northumberland Hills Hospital after a long battle with Parkinsons and dementia at the age of 91. Stan was born in Welland in 1929 and moved to Cobourg in 1961. He began his career in golf at Lookout Point Golf Club in Fonthill as an assistant pro and was the golf professional at the Cobourg Golf and Curling Club and later at Dalewood Golf Club. He was a lifetime member of the CPGA and OPGA. Stan will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty(Elliott), his daughter Jackie (Derrick), his much adored grandchildren, Nick(Cat) and Taylor(Dave), and his great-granddaughter Ivy. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Essak and The Northumberland Hills Hospital for their care through the years. In addition they would like to thank St. Elizabeth Health Care, and in particular P.S.W. Jen Lucas, whose compassion and devoted care enabled Stan to remain at home until the end. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to The Northumberland Hills Hospital.
A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Betty, Jackie and Derrick and grandkids Nick and Taylor - our deepest sympathies for your loss, thinking of you.
My father, Bill Kozak, and his wife Irma, send their deepest sympathy to the family. Bill, friend and fellow golf pro, said that; "Stan is now in a place of sunny fairways, and many pars and birdies."
To the Family of Stan Morris; being a fellow Professional I got know Stan at many PGA Events throughout the years. I always traveled with Gord McInnis Jr. and shared many Lookout Stories. Lookout the Home of Champions included many greats. Stan fits into that Professional Crowd of Marlene and Cathy and the McInnis Family. Our thoughts are with you. Tony & Becky Evershed
I WAS SADDENED TO HEAR OF STAN'S PASSING.WE GO BACK TO THE PENINSULA DAYS .I REMEMBER BOTH HE AND HIS WIFE VISITING WILDFIRE WHEN I WAS THERE.A TRUE GENTLEMAN AND PROFESSIONAL.HE WILL BE MISSED
I will always remember Stan for allowing me as a young assistant pro from Bay of Quinte to come up and play Dalewood. He usually came to play in our August long weekend event too. Sorry to hear of his long battle with Parkinsons and his passing. He was a good professional! Rob Strahan Head Professional Westmount G & CC
Jackie and Mrs. Morris, I have such warm memories of Mr. Morris. He was such a kind man and always tremendously patient with our youthful antics. I wish you solace in your memories.
Mr. Morris gave the 5 Bulger kids all of our first jobs. I wasn't as co-ordinated as my older siblings, but my inability to respond to his lessons on the range never seemed to rattle him. His patience never wavered, always a warm smile on his face, and gentle words. Great memories. My condolences to Mrs. Morris, as well as Jackie and her family.
Stan gave me my first golf lesson and my first job. I remember him asking me to hit a couple of buckets of balls as part of my cleaning the range routine. He also gave me whatever time off I wanted to play in tournaments. Thanks to him, my summer memories of Cobourg are full of joy, and now in my 60's I can say he was both the best boss and golf teacher I've ever had. A warm embrace to Betty, Jackie and family.
Sorry for your loss, just wanted to say he was great guy! He taught me how to golf from the junior golf lessons at the Cobourg course to the lessons at Dalewood. As I got older he was the only guy who could take me to the driving range to straighten my game out with only 5 golf balls. He will be missed!
I have many fond memories of Stan and Betty, close friends of my parents. Stan was my first employer at Cobourg Golf Course. I only saw Stan excited two times: the first when Jackie was born and the second when I believe he had his first hole in one on the 2nd hole. He always seemed to be a very calm person.
